Safer Schools Programme:

PACE Youth Network works with schools in London to achieve a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans (LGBT) young people, and those questioning their sexuality to play, learn and thrive.

School children face many challenges at an age which can prove to be difficult anyway. Yet, for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender (LGBT) young people and those who may be questioning or 'exploring' (LGBT-Q) their sexuality, this can all too often be a traumatic/chaotic time for them in the home, the school and outside.

"this project helped me a lot while I was at school, merely knowing that there was support and someone to talk in confidence to took a huge weight of my shoulders" North London Secondary School Pupil, 15

We can help you ensure that your school is a safer, more inclusive and friendly space for pupils, staff, parents and visitors.

Targeted Support For Schools:

We offer a varied package of support regarding LGBTQ issues to your school, your pupils and their families including:

  • A visiting play "Them & Us (in association with Little Fish Theatre) along with a staff training package* that explores issues relating to sexuality and race - for year 9 & 10 pupils (normally costs upwards of £350*)

"I liked the way terminology was really qualified. I also found advice on how to deal with specific situations helpful... It's given me a lot of confidence about how to deal with the issues" - Teacher training participant

  • Confidential 1:1 support for individuals under the age of 19** who have issues relating to their sexuality, or gender identity - or any other issue.

  • Email & telephone support for school staff working in confidence with LGBTQ pupils and students - offering information and updates about local services and facilitated access to our london-based weekly social support and confidence-building opportunities for all LGBTQ u19's.

  • Under 19's counselling, family therapy and support sessions (either individually, or 'whole family' sessions).
